How to Use a Pregnancy Test Kit
A pregnancy test can be taken if you think you are pregnant. You can buy a pregnancy test kit at a medical store. It is very easy and convenient to do a pregnancy test.
There is no need to be afraid of a pregnancy test. A pregnancy test these days is also quite accurate. In fact, if you are planning to get pregnant and you see some early symptoms of pregnancy, you may want to do the test yourself first rather than rush to the doctor every time.
What does a Pregnancy Test do?
Well, in medical terms, a pregnancy test measures the level of the hormone, human chrorionic gonadotropin (HCG) present in your urine. This hormone is produced when the fertilized egg is implanted in the uterus of the mother. About six days after fertilization, the HCG levels in your bloodstream rise.
How to Use a Pregnancy Test Kit
As I said earlier, a pregnancy test kit is very convenient and easy to use. Carry out the test preferably in the morning time. Remember to bring the test kit to room temperature before you start using it, as most kits are refrigerated. Collect urine in a clean dry cup or plastic container. Make sure, there is no detergent left behind in it. Dip the test strip into the cup with the urine and wait a few minutes. Some test strips have a + or – on them. Others display a purple or pink line. If you test negative, it does not mean you are not pregnant. Wait to see if you miss your periods and then do the test again.
Early Pregnancy Symptoms
Whether your pregnancy test gives a positive or a negative result, it is much better to carry out a second test as well, to play safe. There will be other symptoms of pregnancy too of course, a missed period, tenderness of the breasts, morning sickness, food cravings, a slight vaginal discharge, faintness, or dizzy spells. If you have all these symptoms, but you still test, negative you must visit a doctor as soon as possible. Do not be afraid to clear all your doubts and ask questions. The doctor is there to help.
